Bennington Museum
Bennington Museum presents and explores the rich culture of southern Vermont, eastern New York state, northwestern Massachusetts, and southern New Hampshire in all its forms, from the 18th century to the present. Visitors connect with objects of art and history, and experience them in context across time and place through innovative exhibitions and programming. The Museum has rotating exhibits each year. This year, the highlight is FOR THE LOVE OF VERMONT: The Lyman Orton Collection with more than 65 artists represented. Guided museum tours can be tailored to meet your timeline. Museum staff will plan with you in advance, and a knowledgeable docent will greet your group upon arrival to guide you through your exhibitions of choice.
Groups should allocate 1.5 – 2 hours for guided museum tours; 2.5 – 3.5 hours for the Old Bennington step-on tour.
Group Policies & Rates: $15/person for guided museum tours. $10.50/person without a tour. $22/person for Old Bennington step-on tour; this price does not include admission to other attractions; museum staff can help make arrangements. Group tours require a minimum of 10 people and must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance. For all tours, participants, the bus driver, and group tour leader receive complimentary admission and a 10% discount in the Museum Store.
Dates of Operation: Typically closed January, February, and March, but can make exceptions for groups.
Highlighted Group Experience: The Old Bennington step-on tour expands the visit to include many area attractions such as the Bennington Monument, Old First Church, Robert Frost’s grave site, and, if time permits, a covered bridge. Custom tours can also be arranged to fit your needs and schedule.
